Chuckanut Drive named themselves after a scenic route in their home state of Washington, and are headed up by singer/guitarist Steve Leslie, who released two CDs by the age of 19 with his band Bloomsday. The rest of the band is Chris Hess (bass), Loren "Hot Sauce" Huggins (guitar), Garth Highsmith (pedal steel), and Kubby (drums). The Crooked Mile Home is the first full-length CD, the second release after the self-titled eight-track EP. The thirteen tracks are reminiscent of the Jayhawks or the early years of Uncle Tupelo. It is only a little light (?), a little more roll and somewhat less alt.rock. Close listeners will immediately hear the comparison with Say ZuZu. Contagious and prickly country-oriented rock and roll with a bit of honky-tonk and a slightly smaller bit of soul. Pretty good, no complaints.

Chuckanut Drive heeft zich vernoemd na een toeristische route door thuisstaat Washington en is de band rond
zanger/gitarist Steve Leslie, die als 19 jarige al twee cd's uitbracht met de band Bloomsday. De rest van de
band bestaat uit Chris Hess (bass), Loren "hot sauce" Huggins (gitaar) , Garth Highsmith (pedal steel) en
Kubby (drums). The Crooked Mile Home is de eerste volwaardige cd, opvolger van de titelloze 8-track uit
2003. 13 nummers die refereren aan The Jayhawks in de jonge jaren of Uncle Tupelo. Het is alleen wat
lichter, wat meer roll en wat minder alt.rock. De fijnproever zal direct de vergelijking horen met Say
ZuZu. Aanstekelijke en stekelige Country - georiëteerde rock and roll met een beetje honky-tonk en
